HOW
TO ARRIVE AT CHICHEN ITZA |
FROM
CANCUN, THE MAYAN RIVIERA AND MERIDA |
|
|
|
The
most famous and impressive compound of the Maya Culture is located
in the North Central part of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is very
easy to tour it, for it can be accessed by air or by land, depending
on the City travellers are in.
By air: coming from the neighbouring Cancun
in the State of Quintana Roo. There you will find several companies
flying air taxis directly to Chichén Itzá. The
flight takes approximately one hour. Some firms include the
entrance ticket and the transfer service to the archaeological
compound.
By land: coming from Mérida, the capital
of the State of Yucatan or from Cancun, in the neighbouring
Quintana Roo. The distance is of 120 and 188 kilometres respectively.
In both places travellers will find bus lines covering the route,
which will stop at Pisté, a town located 1500 metres
away from the Mayan compound. Access in both cases is through
the 180 Federal Highway linking Mérida with Puerto Juarez,
a road in optimum conditions although rather narrow. Hire
Transportation: We have different options for transportation

Monumental,
complex and mysterious; these are some of the characteristics of Chichén
Itzá, a huge city with stone pyramids and buildings, marked
by an architectonic boast that shows the geniality and the religious
spirit of the Mayan Civilisation.
|
|
 |
|
It is a great city that currently extends over an area of 10 square
kilometres, where the great vestiges of a culture that reached advancements
unthought-of, especially in astronomy, impose themselves. For these
and other characteristics, Chichén Itzá is one of the
most impacting archaeological centres in Mexico.
